“It’s about whether we’re real …”

It is also about knowing each other,
more than that we were once lonely
and it is not about what divides us,
but about what we have in common.
It’s not about winning,
it’s about you fighting,
it’s not about the beat itself,
it’s about you dancing.
It’s not about what we have,
it’s about what we make of it.
It’s not about the joke itself,
it’s about us laughing.
It’s not about what we wear, how we smile, how we rhyme.
It’s about what we say, whether we’re real, what we mean.

A short excerpt from a peotry slam from Julia Engelmann
